See, I told you I'd forget! Anyway--
For today's photo, strangers, I thought it would be kind of creepy to take pictures of real strangers... understandably, I'd hope. So instead, I chose this!
I've seen this quote before on various sites; i.e. pinterest, tumblr, facebook... And it kind of sparked something in me. It's pretty straight forward-- We all start as strangers.
Every one of us...
As a child to your mother, you were strangers.
The first day of school, you were strangers.
The first day of summer camp, you were strangers.
And so on and so forth...
Your best friend? Yeah, you were strangers with them once too. And it's weird to think about, because I guess now you can't even picture your life without certain people in it.
It also inspires me to reach out and be less stranger-y with actual strangers. You never know-- they may turn out to be "the one." Or you could be the sign they've been searching for... There's so many things we, as a society, brush off because we're too dang caught up with our own "important" lives- and we forget there are other people who are looking for the same things we are. And maybe sometimes, if we stop and look around- and actually look those 'strangers' in the eyes, we might find a common interest... Like baking cookies, or sweaters, or scarves, or that they really, really rock that outfit. If you compliment them, or make a random comment or even simply, "pay it forward," they may find something redeeming in society. Because of you. Small, random acts of kindness really do make a difference. And so do you.
We all start as strangers.

Day 1 -- A Street
Does this street look familiar?
It should!
If you're still confused, does this help?

Do you get it now? :)
This is one of the most well known streets ever-- it was used as the cover for The Beatles' album, Abbey Road. I love The Beatles, and I named my blog after one of my favorite songs by them, "Let it Be."
I thought this seemed appropriate since it's the first day and I've always wanted to shed some light on the reason why my blog is titled the way it is.
So here it is-- el dio uno, una calle! :)
BRAINBLAST!
I stumbled upon this on Pinterest yesterday and I was thinking that this would be kind of fun to do... So I shall start a photo challenge!
WOOHOOO!
I will start tomorrow. :) It's 31 days long, and since it's almost February, I might as well begin now-- considering the days I may forget and the shortness of February itself. :)
So I'll list all 31 days and then... LET THE GAME(S) BEGIN!

Update!
Hellooo fellow readers!
It's the new year- which means a new semester. My final semester as a high schooler... Whoa. With this new semester comes a new schedule and mine contains Creative Writing. And if you know me at all- or have simply read my blog- I am a creative writer... :) The poems I've posted lately are ones I've written in class. The one titled "Perspectives" was a liiiittle too deep for my peers, but I love it and kept it to add to my book of poems. :) The other one, "Identity" is the one I'm using for class. It's not as deep and easily understandable- very straight forward. Which is great for high school. Those darn kids...
In other news, I'm coming to terms with responsibility and I'm finding it easier to embrace, rather than to shy away from. Which is aways good. I am learning more about myself each day and it's great to finally have a definite knowledge of who I am as the days progress. I'm valuing friendships more and more everyday- not wanting to take them for granted when I'm gone. It's going to be weird to not see some of my favorite people everyday, not to share jokes and gossip- a naturally important part of the silliness of high school. :) It's nice to be able to act my age and to have fun, not having to worry about what problems I may face tomorrow. I can focus on today, because I am at peace with tomorrow. I'm enjoying many aspects of life and I'm observing more than ever. I am inspired and enthused and entirely content with how things are becoming.
Why couldn't I have done this before??? ;)

Identity
Who am I?
I am Balie.
I am music.
I am springtime.
I am expressive,
unique.
I am not arrogant.
I am not conceited.
I am not weak,
nor am I boring.
I am kindness,
I am acceptance,
I am laughter,
and hugs
and sarcasm.
I am not sick
or lost
or evil.
I am not rude
or materialistic.
I am silence.
I am deafening.
I am not perfect.
I am my mistakes.
But I am not defined by them.
I am strong willed-
determined
and observant.
I am not always right,
I am not always who you think.
I am simple,
but complex.
I am a person.
I am not a thing.
I am awkward.
I am still music.
I am Balie.
This is who I am.

Perspectives
In my head it's like I'm outside looking in.
And everyone around me is caught up in their sin
and false pretensions.
And while I'm outside looking in, I realize--
everyone else is looking out.
Inside, I see goodness--
potentially blinding light.
Outside, I see grey...
A meld of persons, places, and things
who each have an inside too.
This observation of perspective makes me question.
Who are we to judge or to not accept?
What inside us makes us feel so,
so damn superior to them?
To anyone?
As I sit here looking out I see within--
a reflection of myself is
represented each time I look out.
And although I may not like what I see...
C'est la vie.
